Rett Thompson grew up with an affinity for films and television, taking broadcast journalism in high school and making movies for fun at home. He would go on to attend the University of Southern California’s distinguished School of Cinema Television. There he would hone his editing and filmmaking skills by learning to use a wide array of film equipment and editing software. His emphasis on story telling can be traced back to a background knowledge of filmmaking.
Rett came back to his hometown of Atlanta and became well rooted in the music scene. This started by taking an internship at 99X, a legendary alternative radio station. During this time he would become a Creative at Apple get certified in Final Cut Pro, Motion, Shake, & other software to teach Apple’s customers how to use the software to make movies and videos. He then graduated to working at an advertising agency and by 23 Rett was the Video Production Manager of the agency. There he ran an editing department overseeing other editors while also shooting and editing projects himself.
After yearning to create videos with his own visions, Rett left the agency in 2006 and began freelancing. He started making videos for radio stations, bands, and eventually started documenting festivals for promotors. Starting with connections made in radio he also grew a diverse and dynamic client list ranging throughout various industries.
